  1. On Friday, Jul. 7, the Bartow County Sheriff's Office successfully tracked down the family of a 2-year-old child discovered wandering alone in Cartersville. The young child was found strolling along Benfield Circle at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Jul. 6, according to the Sheriff's Office. No further information regarding the circumstances surrounding this incident has been disclosed by the authorities as of Sunday. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  2. The Friends of New Echota State Historic Site is hosting a presentation on the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) consultation and repatriation process of artifacts from the Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site. The Muscogee Creek Nation has made a NAGPRA claim on the artifacts, allowing federally recognized tribes to request the return of burial-affiliated artifacts and human remains. Admission is free for the presentation on Saturday, Jul. 15 at 11:00 a.m., with regular admission fees required for general visitation of the site's museum, grounds, buildings, and trails.   3. Georgia's latest economic report reveals that despite ongoing low unemployment numbers, the state experienced a slight increase in May. The state's labor commissioner noted that all regions within the state reported a rise in unemployment rates in May, up from 2.9 percent this time last year. Despite the uptick, the Peach State's current unemployment rate of 3.2 percent remains lower than the national average of 3.7 percent. (WSAV-TV)
