'We're Just Going To Try To Get Back On Our Feet,' Says Fire Victim

A Cartersville family lost nearly everything in a Monday night blaze caused by lightning.

Brianna Mullinax and her family lost nearly everything Monday night when a bolt of lightning started a fire that displaced at least eight Cartersville families.

Luckily, her family wasn't home and no injuries were reported in the blaze on Mountain Chase Drive, which was contained to three units but apparently damaged more.

A few bags packed and placed by the door to her former apartment, Mullinax said the family, which includes two children, lost most of their clothes, furniture and personal belongings.

The Mullinax's are moving to a new apartment with some kitchen items from the burned unit, one of the only things they were able to salvage.
