What Should Go in the Old Fire Station?
Cartersville firefighters have moved on from the historic downtown building at the corner of Church and Erwin streets.
"For most of the city's firefighting history, a fire station of some sort has been located at the corner of Church and Erwin streets," according to the city of Cartersville's website. History came to an end with the fire department's recent move to the new public safety headquarters building on Cassville Road.
The old Station 1, a two-story building that saw a 1979 addition to house modern-day fire trucks and equipment, was originally erected in 1917 and included City Hall and the fire and police departments.
Help us fill in the blank: What would you like to see the city of Cartersville do with the historic building? Do you have memories from the old city hall or police station? What should it be now? Tell us in the comments below.
