Woman Dies In Fiery Crash On I-75
A 70-year-old Florida woman died Wednesday in a fiery crash on I-75.
BARTOW COUNTY, GA -- A 70-year-old Florida woman died Wednesday in a fiery crash on I-75.
At approximately 11 a.m., Cassandra King was driving a 2005 Chrysler Town and Country van when she struck a cable barrier which ignited an engine fire. She was pronounced dead at the scene, accordingto the Georgia State Patrol, or GSP.
She was traveling north on Interstate 75 in the left lane and exited the left side of the roadway, striking the cable barrier on its left side. The impact with the cable barrier ignited a engine fire. The van continued along the cable barrier and guard rail for a distance of 429 feet before coming to an uncontrolled rest in the left shoulder of the over pass, being fully engulfed in flames.

A witness told the GSP she was traveling behind King's van in the middle lane. She said the van just drifted off the roadway and struck a guard rail. She said the van came to an uncontrolled stop in the left shoulder and noticed the van was fully engulfed in flames.
The area of impact was determined to be on the cable barrier in the left shoulder, GSP reported.
