APS wants to End 'Communities in Schools' Program after 40 years of Supporting Underpriviledge Students

According to Cliff Albright, Partnerships Manager at Communities In Schools, the program has been serving underprivileged students for 40 years.

Mr. Albright spoke to NPU-T residents at a recent meeting asking them to write their Board of Education members and school principals in an effort to save the program that does necessary things like provide books for students that cannot afford them.

According to an article in the SaportaReport.com, "Erroll Davis, superintendent of the Atlanta Public Schools, has proposed ending the school system’s relationships with several nonprofit organizations, including Communities In Schools, Teach for America, Project Grad and Hands On Atlanta as cost saving measures."

The question is whether or not Cascade Patch readers agree that a program like Community In Schools should be on the "chopping block" in an effort to save money?
