Fulton Fresh fights 'Food Deserts' and Obesity with Mobile Farmer's Market
Fulton Fresh launches another season of delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly to communities that need them the most.
The Fulton County Cooperative Extension launched another season of their Fulton Fresh Mobile Farmer's Market this week, and celebrated the addition of another bus to help with more routes.
The Fulton Fresh program provides access to fresh vegetables and nutrition education in communities designated as food deserts.Β
βWe are pleased that we could expand the Fulton Fresh program to reach 13 communities versus the 4 communities served in our first season,β stated Menia Chester, Director of Fulton County Cooperative Extension.Β βBeing able to provide access to fresh produce in communities not serviced by a major grocery store chain is important in our efforts to address health disparities in these neighborhoods.βΒ
