The KKK wants to adopt a Georgia Highway. How do Black Residents in SW Atlanta Feel?
The KKK has made a formal request to "Adopt a highway in Georgia.

The Department of Transportation has said that they will deny the KKK's application to "Adopt a Highway", even though the KKK said they will take the case to the ACLU if they are denied.
The KKK will argue it is against theirΒ First Amendment right to deny them because of their beliefs.Β Even though the application was denied, or will be according to the Department of Transportation, the KKK will likely make this a big summer issues in an attempt to take it all the way to the Supreme Court.
The "adopt a highway" program allows local civic-minded organizations to take clean-up responsibilities of stretches of highway, in turn for free advertising along that stretch.Β Meaning, the KKK could then advertise their hate message and try to recruit new members on that public land.
