Video: The Voter Empowerment Collaborative Says this is the Most Important Election Since Jim Crow Era

The Voter Empowerment Collaborative is a grassroots organization that has registered nearly 6000 new voters at the West End Mall.

I recently attended a meeting hosted by the Voter Empowerment Collaborative (VEC), in which concerned citizens, activists, and politicians all discussed different ways to empower black voters.

Mr. Love, the groups current leader, expressed that the basis of their mission was, "voter information."Β  The organization stresses that black voters need information more than anything these days.

Due to redistricting many voters may have new representatives and do not even know it.Β  Other vital information that some voters may not know is their "voter power."Β  There are many municipalities and districts in which the black vote accounts for more than 60%, and VEC intends to focus on those areas, such as Fairburn, College Park, Stone Mountain, etc. so that black voters know that they can actually make a difference.

I have had a hard time tracking VEC online, but do some research and you will find more info about them and how you can help them empower voters to be ready for the upcoming Summer and Fall elections.

This particular meeting was held at the TGIF's on Camp Creek as part of the restaurant's free Breakfast Club program in which community organizations and clubs get the opportunity to use the space to host meetings and receive a free breakfast.Β  Click the link for more on this.
