  2. Car and motorcycle enthusiasts gathered at the Dairy Queen/Walmart parking lot off Hwy. 9 in south Forsyth County for a "Cruz In" event on Sunday, Sep. 24. Organized by local resident Patricia Chamlee, the family-friendly gathering started in 2018 with 19 vehicles and has grown to as many as 178 participants. While there are no entry fees or trophies, attendees were encouraged to donate to a local charity, making it a community-driven event for a good cause. (Subscription: Forsyth County News)
  3. Cooler weather is the perfect time to plan a workout outside. Zumba with Allyson classes are set for Oct. 3, 10, and 24, running from 6:00-7:00 p.m. The Oct. 24 class will feature a spooky Halloween theme. 5. Save the Horses Rescue is hosting its seventh annual Calendar Photo Contest fundraiser, encouraging supporters to submit favorite images of the rescue's animals for the 2024 calendar. The event utilizes a donate-to-vote system, where friends and family can vote for their preferred images. The fundraiser hopes to raise funds for winter hay, a critical need for the 100+ rescued horses and 30 other animals, with expenses amounting to $34,000 annually; all funds come from generous supporters as the rescue operates as a non-profit without government grants.
