Douglas County Commissioners Postpone Decision To Add $1.1M To County Budget
Douglas County commissioners postponed the vote on adding $1.1 million to the budget, which is mostly for salaries to add staff, to April.
DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — Douglas County commissioners said they will wait to vote on adding $1.1 million — a majority of which would go toward salaries for additional staff — into the fiscal year 2022 adopted budget until the spring, the Douglas County Sentinel reported.
Commissioners adopted a $104.6 million budget in December. The extra $1.1 million would come from the county's fund balance, according to the Sentinel, and commissioners decided to take up the request at the April 19 meeting once the current budget closes out at the end of March.
“The full board will decide. There is no recommendations from the committee. We don’t have to accommodate anybody. We have no pressure to do anything that we don’t have money for,” Commissioner Kelly Robinson, chair of the finance committee, said Monday, the Sentinel reported.
