2019 'Facts & Figures' Booklet Released By Douglas County

DOUGLASVILLE, GA -- Douglas County’s 2019 edition of the annual ‘facts & figures’ booklet, titled this year “Telling the Story about Our Community” has been published, and it is now available on the Commissioner’s pages of the Douglas County website.

The annual periodical by the Department of Communications & Community Relations is a 16-page look at the County government and its departments. Many of the reports found in the document include statistics from the past three years so that trends can be identified. The statistics for the Records Department- Open Records features information since 2012 and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office features statistics for each year since 2005

Some interesting facts & figures from the booklet:

· The population grew to 145,797 in 2018, which was a 7.1 percent increase since 2013.

· Douglas County Fire/EMS answered 9,764 emergency medical calls in 2018.

· The Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department was awarded $75,000 DNR LWCF for development of trailhead at Clinton Nature Preserve.

· The three County libraries purchased 4,534 books, 491 audiobooks, and 1,348 DVDs.

· The Juvenile Programs Administration received a grant of $1,144,161 in 2018 from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, Criminal Justice Coordinating Council and the Office of Juvenile justice and Delinquency Prevention.

· The County website, www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com, had an average of 3,965 hits per day.

The ‘facts & figures’ booklet is downloadable from the Commissioners’ pages (provided in a .pdf format), and from the News Items on the website home page. Limited printed copies are available from the Department of Communications & Community Relations in the Douglas County Courthouse.
