- The 2023 Douglasville Mayoral Candidate Forum is today, Sep. 26 at 6:00 p.m. at the Douglasville Conference Center. This public will have an opportunity to hear directly from the mayoral candidates as they discuss their platforms, governance plans, and their stance on community issues. - The seventh annual Hunters Harvest Fall Festival and Arts & Crafts Show will take place at Hunter Park in Douglasville on Saturday, Oct. 28, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This free event will feature over 40 vendors offering arts, crafts, food, and beverages from West Georgia and Metro Atlanta. Vendor registration is available for a fee, and those interested can contact Jamiah Flagg at flaggj@douglasvillega.gov for more information or click here. - On Sep. 28, the Douglasville Police Department (DPD) will be hosting their bi-monthly Community Enrichment Meeting. The meeting begins at 7:00 p.m. in the community room at the DPD. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)
- S.H.A.R.E. House in Douglasville has been providing shelter and support for individuals escaping domestic violence since 1990. They offer financial assistance, counseling services, shelter for people and their pets, and even help with funeral expenses for victims of domestic violence. During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the organization emphasizes the importance of recognizing signs of abuse and offers resources to help victims escape dangerous situations, such as the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233. - A Breast Cancer Workshop is scheduled for Oct. 7, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Alice J. Hawthorne Community Center in Douglasville. Mercedes Ringgold, the CEO of the United Cancer Support Foundation, will serve as the guest host for the seminar. The event is open to the entire community, offering free education on breast cancer.
