3 Arrests, 1 At Large After Douglasville Double Carjacking
Three people have been arrested and another is still at large after two hijackings Saturday at the Douglasville Park and Ride, police say.

DOUGLSVILLE, GA — Three people have been arrested and another is still at large after two hijackings Saturday at the Douglasville Park and Ride, according to police.
Zachuris Nelson was charged with highjacking of a motor vehicle and obstruction. Cornelius Gray was charged with hijacking of a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. Christian Richards was charged with hijacking of a motor vehicle, fleeing and attempting to elude police. All three suspects are currently being held at the Douglas County Jail.
At 2 a.m., Douglasville Police officers responded to the Park and Ride at 7500 Douglas Blvd. after reports of an armed carjacking. Once at the Park and Ride, officers learned that two people had met there prior to the beginning of their work shift. While they were talking, a Dodge Challenger pulled in. Two men got out of the Challenger and stole their vehicles at gunpoint.

Within 10-15 minutes of the carjacking officers spotted the Dodge Challenger and one of the stolen vehicles on Highway 5 near Douglas Boulevard. Officers attempted to stop the Challenger and a chase ensued northbound on Highway 5. The Challenger lost control in the area of the Bright Star Connector and crashed into the woods. One occupant, 18-year-old Nelson, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, fled on foot and was caught a short time later with the assistance of a Douglas County Sheriff's Office (Georgia) K-9.

A second occupant, 19-year-old Gray, of Northport, Alabama, was taken into custody when spotted leaving the woods a short distance from the crash site.
Around the same time as the first pursuit a sheriff's deputy spotted the second stolen vehicle fleeing on I-20 eastbound near Lee Road. Douglasville officers joined the chase and were able to use their patrol cars to stop the fleeing suspect, 17-year-old Richards from Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
The second stolen vehicle, a red Nissan Altima with Georgia tag# QAW6832, has not yet been recovered and is believed to have headed west toward Alabama. Investigators are working to identify the fourth person involved and to recover the Altima.
