Attempted ATM Robbery In Douglasville Prompts Police Warning
It's the third recent ATM robbery in the area, police say, warning residents to be aware of their surroundings.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglasville police said there was an attempted robbery in town on Sunday, Aug. 18. The victim, an elderly man, was able to get away unscathed, police say.
Around 7:35 a.m. Sunday, the victim, 74, made an ATM withdrawal at the Regions Bank at 6636 Church St. He returned to his car where his two grandchildren, ages 10 and 12, were waiting.
Once he was inside, the suspect walked up to him and brandished a handgun, demanding money, police say.

The victim drove away. Social media reports said there were shots fired, but that is untrue, police say.

Police say the suspect is a tall, slim black man who was wearing a dark colored jacket, tan pants and a ski mask.
