Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:
- Douglas County law enforcement is currently looking for a man who was involved in the Jul. 15 Redline Auto Dealership burglary in Douglasville. After injuring his arm from breaking a window, he ran away and has been missing since the incident. Anyone with information about who the man is, or where he may be should contact investigator T.F. Smith or the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office immediately. (CBS 46)
- Back to school shopping can be overwhelming, for both students and teachers, but a recent online campaign has helped to alleviate some of the financial burdens that may come with a new school year. "Clear the List" is an online initiative that has been helping teachers all over the area, as total strangers have been buying classroom supplies from teacher's Amazon wishlists, including some of the educators here in Douglasville. This trend has not only been able to help teachers in preparing for the new school year, but it is also helping students to be equipped with all the resources they need to succeed this year. In addition to the kindness of strangers and the dedicated teachers, Governor Kemp has also agreed to give each teacher $125 to go towards classroom supplies. (CBS 46 News)
- Registration is now open for free and reduced lunch for the 2022-2023 school year in Douglas County. Applications are available online by using the Schoolcafe website or mobile app, and upon completion, the application will be processed within ten school days. Only one application is needed per family, and a new one must be completed each school year. For more information about the program, click here. (Douglas County School System)
- House hunting getting exhausting? Good thing there are plenty of open houses coming up this weekend in the Douglasville area! There are a wide variety of houses in several different price ranges to choose from, so there is something for everyone! Catch these great homes before they sell! (Douglasville Patch)
- The Douglas County Board of Commissioners recently appointed Ramona Bivins to become the next Douglas County Chief Finance Officer. Her years of experience and hard work have proven to the Board that she is the perfect fit for the position, as they voted unanimously to appoint her to the position.
