Clerk Tied Up, Thief Steals Phones, Money From AT&T Store: Police
The thief was wearing a full face mask and entered the store pointing a black handgun at the store clerk, who he tied up, police said.
VILLA RICA, GA -- A Lawrenceville man was arrested after robbing the AT&T store on Bankhead Highway, May 31, tying up the store clerk and stealing phones and money.
Stephan D. Profitt-Long, 26, was charged with armed robbery, kidnapping and false imprisonment and taken to the Carroll County Jail.
At 7:21 p.m., Villa Rica Police responded to the AT&T Store at 664 West Bankhead Hwy. in reference to an armed robbery. The investigation found that Profitt-Long was wearing a blue hoodie, shorts and a full face mask, and entered the store pointing a black handgun at the store clerk. The clerk was forced to lock the door and was taken to the back office where he was tied up. Profitt-Long took phones from a safe as well as money before fleeing the scene.

Villa Rica Police discovered a lead and requested the assistance of Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as the information gathered indicated that Profitt-Long was now in Douglas County. Douglas Co. deputies located the suspect in the Hwy 92 area and he was taken into custody. The vehicle was impounded and during the search the money, cell phones and black air soft handgun were recovered.
Villa Rica Captain Keith Shaddix said thank you the Douglas County Deputies who assisted as well as the Carroll County 911 Center for all of their help. "Without the different agencies working together, crimes such as these would go unsolved," he said.
