1. Douglas County Animal Services (DCAS) was granted $10,000 by the Georgia Department of Agriculture to help with the "Spay/Neuter Program" cost. The grant only goes to spaying and neutering animals in the shelter before adoption. (Douglasville Patch)

3. Four-star football player Madden Sanker, from Douglasville, has committed to the Cardinals at the University of Louisville. Madden announced his decision on Monday night (Jul. 11). (247 Sports)
4. On Saturday, Jul. 9, Douglas County native Austin Hill won the Xfinity Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway. In the same race, Douglasville's Mason Massey finished in 24th place. (Gwinnett Daily Post)
5. Douglas County Sheriff's Office's Citizens Law Enforcement Academy (C.L.E.A.) class registration is now open. The class provides training and education while giving insight into the duties and responsibilities of the deputies. According to the Sheriff's Office, "community involvement is one of the most powerful tools any law enforcement agency has in the fight against crime." (Douglas County Sheriff)
