Body In Abandoned Home Not 'Rolled In A Rug': Douglasville Police

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Douglasville police are trying to determine the identity and cause of death of a body found in an abandoned house on Thompson Street.

They’re also working to tamp down fears stemming from an earlier report that the body was found “rolled in a rug.”

That first report from the Atlanta FOX station is “not true,” according to a statement Friday morning from the Douglasville Police Department.

Authorities declined to provide more specifics beyond debunking the rug aspect of the story, related by a neighbor to the FOX5 reporter.

“Though it appears to simply be an unattended death, we are working diligently to ensure there was no foul play,” the statement said. “We felt it important to correct errors in the initial reporting that may have resulted in unnecessary fear relating to this case.”
