Douglas BOC Considers Banning Big Rigs On 10 Roads, Will Hold Hearing

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The Douglas County Board of Commissioners is thinking of banning big trucks on more county roads, and it wants to hear your opinion on the matter.

On Tuesday, the board voted 4-0 to advertise a public hearing on prohibiting trucks with more than six wheels on portions of 10 roads, according to The Douglas County Sentinel.

Those roads are:

1. Johnson Road from Mason Creek Road to Pool Road
2. Pool Road from Ephesus Church Road to Bill Arp Road
3. Tyson Road from Conners Road until it ends
4. Chapel Hill Road from Interstate 20 to Highway 166
5. Lee Road from South Sweetwater Church Road to Fairburn Road
6. Mount Vernon Road from South Sweetwater Church Road to Fairburn Road
7. South Sweetwater Road from Mount Vernon Road to Veterans Memorial Highway
8. Post Road from Veterans Memorial Highway to the Carroll County line
9. Riverside Parkway from Thornton Road to Fairburn Road
10. Malone Road from Huey Road to the Douglasville city limit

County transportation director Miguel Valentine told the board that residents often complain of truck noise from those roads, according to the Douglasville newspaper.
