Douglas Woman Charged With Assaulting Police Officer

A Douglas County woman has been charged with attempting to drive off while an officer was halfway in her car.

DOUGLASVILLE - A local woman was arrested and charged with assaulting a Douglas County sheriff's deputy with her car.

Shaza Altamimi, 29, of Douglasville was arrested on Dec.13, after she was stopped by a Douglas County sheriff's deputy during a DUI stop. The officer was trying to pull her out of the car when she accelerated, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

The alleged assault took place on Lee Road at Brookstone Drive in Lithia Springs. Court records show that Altamimi did not follow the commands of the deputy to place her vehicle in park and turn off the engine.

Court records show Altamimi dragged the deputy approximately five feet down the road before the he was able to jump back out of the car and onto the roadway.

Altamimi has been charged with one count of aggravated assault, one count of DUI, one count of obstruction, and one count of possessing an open alcoholic beverage container, according to the Douglas County Sentinel.

Altamimi is currently out on a $19,000 bond.
