- 86 Bulldogs were named to the SEC Honor Roll. Softball player Savana Sikes, a marketing major from Douglasville, was among those named to the list. Students must have maintained a grade point average of 3.00 or higher through two semesters and have completed at least 24 non-remedial academic credit hours to qualify for the 2022 Spring Academic Honor Roll. - A Douglasville mother says her 9-year-old son died in an accidental shooting. On Jul. 7, Quansha-la McElmurray says her son Ty'Shaun Prince McElmurray got ahold of a gun and accidentally fired it. The family is now trying to raise money to give Ty'Shaun a proper burial with a fundraiser. (11Alive.com WXIA)
- A fight at a South Fulton elementary school led to a shooting that injured a 19-year-old. Early Saturday morning, a fight in the parking lot of A. Phillip Randolph Elementary, about 20 minutes away from Douglasville, escalated into a shooting that left a Douglasville teen in critical condition. Nicholas Xavier Hernandez IV was rushed to Grady Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police say. The investigation is ongoing. (CBS 46 News)
