Here are the top stories five today in Douglasville:
- The Georgia Municipal Association has announced the 2022-2023 Board of Directors consisting of two Douglasville natives. Sam Davis has been appointed District Three's President West, and Marcia Hampton has been appointed City Managers Section President. The board consists of active city officials. (KPVI News 6)

- Douglasville native Austin Hill won the NASCAR Xfinity Alsco Uniforms 250 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. When Hill competed in Bandolero and Legends racing, he spent countless hours on the same quarter-mile track. He held for 73 of the 163 laps to take the victory. (Henry Herald)
- The Atlanta Police Department hosted a city-wide neighborhood safety training on Saturday in wake of the spike in crime recently. One such crime was the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man in the parking lot of the Douglasville Commons last week. The department gave residents tips on how to lessen their chances of becoming victims of crime, how to start a neighborhood watch, and more. (CBS 46 News)
- Douglas County Sheriff's Office held a hiring event in Douglasville on Saturday due to staffing shortages. They are looking to hire 59 new deputies. Current deputies on the force have been working 78-hour work weeks because of the shortages. (11Alive.com WXIA)
