Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:
- In observance of Veterans Day, the City of Douglasville offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11. The offices will reopen Monday, Nov. 14. (City of Douglasville via Twitter)
- November has been declared Native American Heritage Month by the Douglas County Board of Commissioners. The decision was made in a unanimous 5-0 vote earlier this week. The month will celebrate the cultures, traditions, history, and important contributions of American Indians and indigenous people in the United States. (Press Release Desk )
- The Douglas County Fire & EMS Department is in the process of updating their fire stations with new mattresses for firefighters' beds. Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick Jolivette said, "This purchase is vital to the overall success of the fire department because having a quality mattress ensures firefighters get a good night's sleep, however limited or lengthy their rest time may be." Twenty-one mattresses were purchased and have been distributed to several fire stations already. (Press Release Desk )
