Eastside Elementary School Hosts 'Real Men Read'

Find out here who the "real men" were who volunteered their time to read to Douglas County students today.

DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — A cross section of men from across the community joined students in Eastside Elementary School classrooms Friday as part of Real Men Read. The business, civic and community leaders are participating in the reading celebration to inspire students to read and pursue their love of learning.

When Eastside Principal Timothy Jenkins became principal, he said he discovered that reading throughout the school was a challenge.

“One of the many strategies I put into action was bringing the Real Men Read program to Eastside. It is so important for our students to understand the importance of reading. It is equally important for all of our students to hear appropriate reading strategies from people they look up to in the community."
