  1. A hit-and-run incident in Douglas County led to an assault on Sunday. According to Georgia State Patrol, a driver in a Toyota Sequoia was driving recklessly and then hit a guardrail, resulting in the vehicle flipping over. According to officials, the driver exited the Sequoia and then got into a sedan. A witness was taking pictures of the sedan when the Sequoia driver exited the sedan and assaulted the witness. The hit-and-run caused I-2o East to be closed for two hours. Troopers are investigating the crash while Douglas County deputies are investigating the assault. (11 Alive)
  2. Gov. Brian Kemp was at nearby West Georgia Technical College to sign multiple bills. The package of legislation aims to build on the governor's efforts to attract and grow a top-tier workforce in the state. Among the bills signed into law were House Bill 163, which creates a service loan repayment program for medical examiners; Senate Bill 246, which provides for student loan repayment for certain nursing instructors; and Senate Bill 86, which creates a three-year pilot program for eligible dual-enrollment students to access HOPE grant funds for certain courses.   3. Registration is now open for Camp I Am with Douglasville Parks and Recreation. This program is for girls aged 7-13 and will focus on developing self-awareness and interpersonal skills.   4. The Douglasville Police Department is hosting an upcoming conference with Rising Men. The event is set for Jun. 3 at 9 a.m. and is open to all men 21 years and older.
