Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:

  1. Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) contractors will install lane closures in Douglas County for resurfacing work. The single lane closures will be in place on Bill Arp Road between SR 166 and Central Church Road, which began at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jul. 15, until 6:00 a.m. today, Jul. 16, and 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, Jul. 17, until 5:00 a.m. on Monday morning, Jul. 18.   2. The Douglas County School System is hosting Parent Technology Training events to help parents learn Google Classroom, ClassLink, Infinite Campus, Parent Portal and more. The training events will be on Zoom throughout August for elementary, middle, and high school parents. (DCSS GA)
  3. The Never Alone Clubhouse Recovery Community Organization is hosting a Garage Sale Fundraiser at 8380 Grady Street in Douglasville. The garage sale will be from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Aug. 19, 20, and 21. (Douglasville Patch)
  4. Teneshia Murray, owner of Red Velvet Bistro and Gritz Brunch Bar in Douglasville, has opened T's Brunch Bar. The new brunch bar is located on Peachstreet in Atlanta. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)

Donations will be accepted through Jul. 18 at DCSS Board of Education Office, all three public libraries, the Douglas County Chamber, the Douglasville Welcome Center, or the third floor of the Douglas County Courthouse with Rick Martin.
