- According to the Douglasville Police, a man indecently exposed himself to female customers, including a young child, at the Michael's craft store on Chapel Hill Road. The incident occurred on Sunday, Aug. 13 in the early afternoon. Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to contact Detective Blayne Gibbs at 678-293-1823 or gibbsb@douglasvillega.gov. (WSB TV)
- To celebrate the start of the new school year, the City of Douglasville is hosting the Uptown Funk-tastic Back to School Jam on Saturday, Aug. 19. This event will take place at Webb Field at Hunter Park and will run from 7:00-9:00 p.m., although attendees may begin arriving as early as 6:00 p.m. There will be food trucks and concessions available, and be sure to bring a blanket or chair. - In case you missed it, the 2023 Aqua Fest is coming soon to Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. This event will take place on Saturday, Aug. 26 from 1:00-7:00 p.m. Attendees can enjoy an inflatable obstacle course, water slides, swimming, food trucks, games, and more. - As students head back to the classroom, there are some important dates to take note of for the coming school year. Students in the Douglas County School System will have Thanksgiving Break from Nov. 20-24, and Winter Break will run from Dec. 18-Jan. 2, 2024. Spring Break is scheduled for Apr. 1-5, 2024, and students' last day of school will be May 22, 2024. (Patch)
- Next Tuesday, Aug. 22, there will be a free Training Tuesday fitness class at O'Neal Plaza. The class, organized by Main Street Douglasville and 2ONE Life Fitness Studio, will run from 4:30-5:30 p.m., and children are welcome to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles, and registration is encouraged, but not required.
