  1. McKenna Croft, a former Douglas County High School track and cross country athlete, is using her athletic abilities to raise awareness for cancer. Currently a Georgia Tech student-athlete, Croft is hosting the Run From the Sun 5K at her former alma-mater on Aug. 20; proceeds will go directly to the Melanoma Research Foundation.   2. The Douglas County Transfer Station will be closed for repairs from Aug. 24 through Aug. 27. A press release from the county stated the county will not be accepting any household garbage, mattresses, or furniture during the closure. County residents can drop off small, residential bagged garbage on Aug. 27 in the recycling area. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Clevean Lambert, 38, of Douglasville, has been charged with theft of services after dining at Fin and Feathers on Aug. 8 and refusing to pay his $120.49 bill. Lambert was also charged with simple battery on law enforcement after spitting on one of the responding officers. After posting a $10,000 bond last week, Lambert is free from jail.   4. The City of Douglasville has alerted residents via Facebook that a lane closure will occur today near Willing Workers Community Club Park (8085 Thompson Street) for a speed table installation. The post read, "We ask motorists to drive with caution as there will be a flagger present navigating traffic through the work zone." The work and lane closure will be weather permitting.   5. The Douglasville Police Department's Foundational Transformation of Men Program resumes today at 6:30 p.m. The program is geared towards men 21 years and older and will meet in the community room at the police station.
