In Memory: Marion Dempsey Jordan, Sr., 78, of Douglasville

He owned and operated Effective Marketing Force until his retirement in 2002.

Mr. Marion Dempsey Jordan, Sr., age 78, of Douglasville, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015.

He was born in Lithia Springs on October 16, 1936, the son of the late James Thomas Jordan and the late Hettie Jerkins Jordan. Following graduation from Douglas County High School in 1954, Mr. Jordan worked as an electronics manufacturer’s sales representative. Later, he owned and operated Effective Marketing Force until his retirement in 2002. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Lithia Springs.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by: his wife, Mona LaVerne Holcomb Jordan; his daughter, Mona Kaye Jordan; and his son, Joel Holcomb Jordan.

He is survived by his son, Marion “Dempsey” Jordan, Jr., and his wife, Teri, of Marietta; two grandsons, Marion Dempsey “D.J.” Jordan, III, of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Chad Ronald Jordan of Atlanta; 4 nieces and 2 nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 23, 2015 from 1:00-2:45 P.M., followed by the Funeral Service at 3:00 P.M.

Interment will follow in Mozley Memorial Park in Lithia Springs, with D.J. Jordan, Chad Jordan, Michael Traylor, Davis Traylor, Jimmy Traylor, Rusty McMichen, and Blake McMichen serving as Pallbearers.

A memorial reception will follow the interment in the Family Care Center inside Hightower’s Memorial Chapel, 7034 Broad Street, Douglasville, Georgia 30134.
