  1. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Georgia had the sixth highest rate of monkeypox cases in the U.S. as of Wednesday, Aug. 3. Keith Metoyer said he has been trying to get the monkeypox vaccine, but the Douglas County Department of Health is "only treating people that currently are showing symptoms of monkeypox." (11 Alive)
  2. There was a crash on Hwy 92/wb at Hillcrest Drive, south of I-20, in Douglasville this past Wednesday. There was one injury reported, but no further information on the person's status as of Thursday evening. (Nav Bug)
  3. Niko Moon, from Douglasville, is playing at the All Ohio Balloon Festival on Aug. 12 and is on tour until November. His debut album, "Good Time," was released in August 2021 and the title track became his first No. 1 hit on both the top of Billboard's Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs. (Sentinel Tribune)
  4. The Douglas County Parks & Recreation will have a Girls' Volleyball League for girls' aged 10 to 15 years at the Boundary Waters Activity Center, 4996 Highway 92 in Douglasville. The games begin on Sep. 17 and players must register in person by Aug. 26. (Press Release Desk )
