- Kharyssa Richardson, who attended New Manchester High in Douglasville, is expected to start as center for Auburn basketball this season. She averaged 18.3 points and 8.9 rebounds as a senior. Richardson will be playing under Johnnie Harris, who is in her second season as head coach. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. CST as Sam Houston visits Auburn Arena. (247Sports)
- A man suspected of killing his ex-girlfriend was found deceased. Harold Dakers, 34, was accused of the murder of Kaleshia Lyons, 29. When Douglas County police arrived on Tuesday morning to arrest Dakers, the suspect reportedly ran off into the woods and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. (WSB Atlanta)
- District III Commissioner Tarenia Carthan is partnering with the nonprofit organization Splendors of Africa for the holiday season. Together, they aim to donate at least 100 turkeys at a Community Turkey Giveaway event on Saturday, Nov. 19. The event will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Douglas County Courthouse. - Alexander High sophomore Bryleigh Schival boarded a Boeing 737 piloted, staffed, and crewed entirely by women in honor of International Girls in Aviation Day. 130 girls were included in the Delta “Women Inspiring our Next Generation” (WING) flight. Schival is already in her second year of flight school with Centennial Aviation Academy and was interviewed on the "Today Show." (Douglas County School System)
- Cafeteria manager Randy Jones recently started the Growing Chefs program during the After School Program at Lithia Springs Elementary School. The program includes three classes to show students what a kitchen looks like and how it operates. Lessons include how to take the temperature of food and how to prepare meals.
