  1. On Sep. 1, a new program will launch called S.T.A.N.D. (Students Taking Action for a Non-Violent Douglas). The Douglas County Sheriff's Office, Douglas County Juvenile Court, and Juvenile Programs Administration Department collaborated to create the program, which is designed for Douglas County kids ages 9 to 11. The free program "empowers youth to be leaders in their respective schools by demonstrating kindness and being courageous in the face of peer pressure to join gangs or commit violent criminal offenses."   4. Yesterday, Aug. 2, Western Carolina University head track & field coach Jesse Norman announced the addition of 12 new student-athletes for the 2022-23 school year.   • Douglas County Sheriff's Office announced a BOLO for a female who allegedly committed larceny. The Sheriff's office posted a picture of the female on Facebook. The larceny took place at Jolly Wally's service station on Sunday, Jun. 19. According to the report, the subject is a black female with discoloration on her hands. Please contact Investigator M.
