DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The Douglas County Fire Department received its newest piece of equipment Tuesday morning: a shiny red fire engine, valued at $565,000.

The new truck will be based at Station 8 on Tyson Road in Villa Rica. That station serves the Mirror Lake neighborhood, said Douglas County Commissioner Ann Jones Guider, who represents the area.

Guider, Douglas County Fire Chief Roderick Jolivette and staff were on hand Tuesday morning to greet the new fire engine. A formal ceremony to welcome the new truck "is being planned for the near future," said Douglas County spokesperson Rick Martin.
