One Killed When Semi Hits Douglas County Fire Truck: Report

The driver of a tractor-trailer died early Sunday when his rig struck a Douglas County fire truck on I-20: media report.

DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The driver of a tractor-trailer rig died early Sunday when his vehicle collided on Interstate 20 with a Douglas County fire truck, according to a media report. The accident occurred at 3:20 a.m. about one mile east of GA 92, WSB-TV Channel 2 reported.

The tractor trailer driver died at the scene, WSB reported. No firefighters were hurt; the ladder truck was responding to an earlier wreck on I-20.

The fire truck had parked in the slow lane of traffic on I-20, a Douglas County spokesman told WSB.

Douglas County police and firefighters closed down the westbound lanes of I-20 before GA 92 for several hours to clear debris from the accident, WSB reported.
