Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:
- Property taxes may be changing in Douglasville, as The Douglas County BOC has recently proposed to maintain the property tax millage rate. This would result in property taxes rising with the rising property values. Voting on what milage rate will be implemented will take place on Aug. 25, and registration with the County Clerk for public comment is available. (Douglas County Georgia)
- Adoption fees on pets 6 months or older will be waived at the Douglas County Animal Services Shelter for the entire month of August. This is a part of its Clear the Shelter Initiative, to place as many pets in their forever homes as it can! For those interested in adoption, this month may be your time to meet your new furry best friend! (Douglas County Animal Services via Facebook)
- There will be a Community Job Fair hosted by the Douglasville Police Department on Aug. 20! Businesses are able to register until Aug. 12 and must reserve their space in advance. Those interested in a new job are all welcome and encouraged to stop by this rain or shine event! (Douglasville Georgia)
- The Town Green Amphitheater will be finished shortly, but they need your help! There are three different mural designs that will be voted on this month to determine what gets painted on the Amphitheater. The voting will close on Sept. 6 and will take place on the city website. - The Douglasville Police Department will host a Criminal Activity Town Hall Meeting next Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.! There will be light refreshments and all Douglasville residents are welcome to join.
