Cordova survived for two months, but the injuries and infections were too much to overcome and she died just before Thanksgiving.

The victim's family says the neighbors three pit bulls had been a constant problem and had bitten other family members prior to the fatal attack.

Cordova's daughter, Ingrid Alvarado, was there the day of her mother's brutal mauling and honked her horn and screamed at the dogs, but couldn’t get them off of her mom, according to media reports at the time.

“I thought they were going to attack me too,” Alvarado said.

She finally got her mom into the car and help arrived. Cordova survived two months in a medically induced coma before dying, according to WSB-TV.

Cordova has three children and a husband, according to a GoFundMe account.

"She also has a very young granddaughter who worships her" the fund summary says. "All of these children rely on Lorena for emotional and financial support."
