DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA — After the General Assembly redrew the district lines for Georgia's 14 seats in Congress, as well as all 56 state Senate and 180 state House districts, localities across the state also have to redraw their district lines , including in Douglas County.

The Douglas County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved its proposed map Jan. 4. New district maps are redrawn every 10 years in Congress, state Legislature and local governments (like city councils, county commissioners and school boards) based on the decennial Census.

The county's population grew 8.9 percent from the 2010 census to the 2020 census, rising form 132,403 people to 144,237 people. As a result, commissioners had to distribute the additional 11,834 people evenly over the county's four district seats — but there was little change overall.
