Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:
- The Douglas County Community Services Board (CSB) has been honored by the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities as the 2022 Region 1 Behavioral Health Provider of the year. This accolade means that the DCCSB is considered the best Behavioral Health provider in state of Georgia. Programs that led to the success of the health provider include the Veterans Village Program and the federally funded program to battle substance abuse. The award was given out on Oct. 4. - There's no shortage of things to do in Douglas County Parks this season. Upcoming events include the Fall Festival at Boundary Waters Activity Center on Oct. 27, as well as the Tree Lighting on Nov. 18. - Last night, the Douglasville Police Department had a very special Parenting 101 class. The program focused on educating parents about gang activity and ways to identify it. Experts also spoke about drugs, drug activity, and what parents could do to help. Improving communication skills between parents and their children was also addressed. - The 'Trek or Treat' 5K Justice Run will be held this Saturday on Oct. 29. The event will be held at Boundary Waters Park, to benefit a very important local cause.
