  1. The Douglas County Board of Elections has announced dates and times for the December 6, 2022, General Runoff. Early voting will begin on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2022, and the office will remain open the next day, Nov. 23. However, offices will be closed to observe the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, Nov. 24, and Friday, Nov. 25. They will reopen the following Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Douglas County Happenings via Facebook)
  2. On Tuesday, Nov. 15, the Douglasville Police Department hosted the City of Douglasville Citizens Academy at its department. Chief Sparks spoke to the group before Major Davidson took them on a tour of the police department. The group then learned about the department and divisions, procedures and certifications, and the hiring of employees from the major. (Douglasville Police Department via Facebook)
  3. According to the Fall 2022 Hospital Safety Grades, several hospitals in Georgia have made improvements to protect patients from preventable errors, accidents, injuries, and infections. Amongst the top-rated hospitals in the state is Wellstar Douglas Medical Center, located right here in Douglasville, which earned an "A," the highest grade available. (Patch)
  4. The Georgia Trust for Historic Preservation has released its 2023 list of the state's 10 "Places in Peril" and includes a building in Douglasville. The list was created to raise awareness about Georgia's significant historical, archaeological, and cultural resources. This year, the Beulah Grove Lodge and School, built in Douglasville around 1910 by freedman Jack Smith, made it to the list. (Yahoo Finance)
  5. If you're still making weekend plans, there's plenty happening right here in Douglasville! Tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m., two city events are happening: Teens' Night at the Ike Owings Community Center and Christmas Bingo at O'Neal Plaza. On Saturday, Nov. 19, join fellow community members at Hunter Memorial Park for a Family Wellness Walk beginning at 10:00 a.m. Check the city's calendar for more upcoming events here in town. This open house will allow the public to share their thoughts on key projects to improve Douglasville's town center. Interested residents are encouraged to register for this free event.   • In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Douglas County Courthouse and Tax Commissioners Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 24 and Friday, Nov. 25. Both will be open during regular business hours beginning Monday, Nov. 28. (Douglas County Happenings via Facebook)
