DOUGLASVILLE, GA — The suspect in an apparent road-rage incident on Interstate 20 left to have her nails done after shooting a teenage girl in the head, reported an Atlanta TV station.

Brittney Griffith, 30, of Temple, Georgia, is in the Douglas County Jail after she was denied bond Monday for assault and firearm charges connected to the incident. The shooting took place Sunday afternoon, Douglasville police said in a statement.

WSB-TV identified the victim as 17-year-old Ashlyn Crouch. According to her mother, Dianna Crouch, Ashlyn — who was shot just behind the ear — is out of intensive care and is recuperating in a regular room.

Witnesses in Ashlyn's vehicle told investigators that a woman in a black sedan had been following them since Villa Rica, where “some type of road rage incident began.” Near Highway 5, according to witnesses, the suspect pulled up next to the vehicle and fired at least one shot, police said. The suspect’s vehicle then exited to Chapel Hill Road.

Soon after Griffith exited, she had her nails done, said Judge Susan Camp as reported by the Atlanta news station.

"That makes me think she (Griffith) had no remorse," Dianna Crouch said to WSB-TV reporter Tom Jones.

Griffith also is charged with three counts of cruelty to children. Griffith’s own children — ages 4 to 9 — were in the car with her when the shooting is alleged to have happened.

A passenger in the victim’s vehicle took a photo of the suspect. Once it was posted to social media, multiple people identified her as Griffith, police said. Griffith turned herself in to authorities Sunday night.
