Trooper Injured, Four Cruisers Wrecked in Police Chase
Damaged vehicles Saturday included a Douglasville cruiser. The injured officer was at home resting by Sunday, according to GSP.
DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Four law enforcement cruisers were damaged Saturday after a thief made off with a Dodge truck pulling two RTVs on a flat bed trailer in Heflin, Alabama. One Georgia trooper was injured.
The trooper had minor injuries and was at home resting by Sunday afternoon, according to a statement by the Georgia State Police.
Heflin Police Chief A.J. Benefield said the suspect was in custody after finally stopped by spikes in the roadway on Interstate 20 at Exit 44 in Douglasville.

"The suspect left the exit ramp and struck a concrete power pole," Benefield said in a statement. The suspect was transported to an area hospital.
Before his capture, the truck led to the wrecks of a Temple Police, Douglasville Police and two Georgia Highway Patrol cruisers.

The chase involved several agencies after the thief made off at 5 p.m. Saturday with a Dodge Dually truck pulling the two Kubota RTVs.
