DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Two other suspects in addition to the accused assailant have been arrested in connection with a stabbing at Alexander High School, according to authorities.

The two suspects were identified Wednesday by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as another Alexander High School student who fled the campus with the alleged assailant, and an Alexander graduate who drove a car that picked them up.

All suspects involved with the incident are younger than 17, so their names and charges are being withheld by the sheriff’s office.

According to Wednesday’s statement, a nearby resident told the sheriff’s office that they’d seen a black Mercedes pick up the alleged assailant and accomplice near Dorsett Shoals Road.

But when the Georgia State Patrol later stopped the Mercedes on Capps Ferry Road, they found only the driver and the alleged accomplice. The student believed to be responsible for the stabbing apparently had been dropped off earlier near his home in Palmetto, authorities said.

The stabbing suspect turned himself in to the sheriff’s office early Tuesday evening. He was expected to appear before a juvenile-court judge Wednesday afternoon, according to The Douglas County Sentinel. Juvenile court is not open to the public.

The arrests follow a stabbing incident Tuesday morning at Alexander High that sent one student to the hospital. An official with the sheriff’s office said they were “unable to release any medical information pertaining to the victim.”

"As the student injured Tuesday continues to recover in a local hospital, Superintendent Trent North and the Douglas County Board of Education continue to pray for the student's complete healing," Douglas County spokesperson Portia Lake said in a statement released on Wednesday.
