  1. The City of Douglasville will be hosting an Ice Cream Social on Friday, Aug. 18 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. at the Alice J. Hawthorne Community Center. This event is part of the city's Activities for Adults 50+ series. This event is free, and is an opportunity for local adults to socialize and connect. To register, call 770-920-3009.   2. The Douglasville Police Department (DPD) has announced an upcoming DPD Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the police department's community room. The topics for this town hall meeting will cover gang and drug identifiers for parents and an overview of crime statistics for Douglasville.   3. Mini Minnows Swim Lessons are set to begin in September at the Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. Level One courses are for children who are four months to eighteen months old, and Level Two courses are for children who are nineteen months to three years old. Classes will take place on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays with a limit of five children per class. Parents or guardians will stay with their children during classes, which will cover how children can safely submerge, holding techniques, and skills for future swim lessons.
