- If you're looking for a chance to get your hands dirty, the City of Douglasville has announced a volunteer work day at Mill Village Community Garden. On Jul. 22 from 8:00-11:00 a.m., volunteers will harvest produce, pull weeds, apply mulch, and perform regular upkeep on garden plants. Volunteers are welcome to bring their own gardening supplies, including gloves and water, although water will be provided for volunteers who need it. (City of Douglasville - Government via Facebook)
- The Douglas County Sheriff's Office has shared some helpful advice to reduce vehicle-related thefts. The department advises drivers to always lock their car doors and avoid leaving valuables inside a vehicle. If necessary, lock valuable items in the trunk. - A Douglasville mother and business owner is using her landscaping business to create opportunities for local teens. Ashley Street, owner of TAZ Lawncare, mowed her first lawn five years ago. Since then, she has partnered with her best friend to nurture a budding landscaping business. Street is focused on providing pathways for teenagers to learn to landscape as she realized these valuable skills aren't often taught to young people. (11 Alive)
- Douglasville Parks and Recreation has announced an upcoming free Therapeutic Pool Party. This event is exclusively for community members who are disabled or have special needs. The pool party will take place on Friday, Aug. 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Boundary Waters Aquatic Center. Participants should bring their own towels. (Douglas County Parks & Recreation via Facebook)
- Sign-ups are now open for the 2023 season with Hunter Park Fall Girls Softball League. Registration is available for girls ages 5-12, and practice will begin on Aug. 19.
