- On Friday, three people, one of them being a wanted individual, were caught with illegal drugs and firearms in a Lithia Springs motel. Douglas County officers received a tip about where the wanted individual was. After getting a search warrant for the room, they found methamphetamine and heroin along with related supplies, and three guns with ammunition. The items were all confiscated at the scene and officers were able to safely handle the situation. (Douglas County Sheriff's Office (Georgia) via Facebook)
- There are currently two missing teenagers that may be in the Douglasville area. Miricale Parks, 15, was last seen in Columbus, Georgia, but has several connections that lead investigators to believe that she may be in Douglas County. She is 5'4" with brown hair and brown eyes. Jeremy Andrews was last seen at his home in Douglas County, where he is reported to have chosen to leave. A photo of him is linked here. - The Douglas County School System will be hosting its second week of virtual Parent Tech Training Session for middle school parents tonight at 6:00 p.m! Registration is still open and available online. The sessions will help parents to learn more about resources like Parent Portal and Google Classroom, as technology has become much more common and essential since the pandemic. There will also be a session at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday for those who are not able to make it tonight. (Douglas County Georgia Schools)
- Registration is currently open for Dose of Douglasville Citizen's Academy! The course is entirely free and focuses on giving participants everything they need to become strong leaders and involved community members. The class is limited to Douglasville residents who are over the age of 18, and the classes will run for ten weeks. Those interested can sign up by using this link. (City of Douglasville via Facebook)
- With the school year starting back up again, the "Here Comes the Bus" app is designed to keep Douglasville parents informed on where and when their children are leaving and coming home from school. The app allows parents to track the bus their child is on, seeing when it will be arriving at the stop to allow them to prepare for drop off and pickup. The app is available for download on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store, and parents can use the DCSS code to be sure they are tracking the right bus.
