DOUGLASVILLE, GA — On Monday, residents and businesses in Douglasville will take a moment to honor the life and legacy of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr.
As a federal holiday, MLK Day could also affect the hours of government offices, libraries, public transportation, garbage pickup and other services in Douglasville.
Before you head out, here’s a roundup of what’s open and what’s closed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day in our city:

- Municipal offices for the city of Douglasville will be closed Monday.
- Douglas County government offices and courts are closed Monday.
- West Georgia Regional Library System branches are closed Monday. Libraries will reopen Tuesday at normal times.
- Douglas County School System campuses and administration buildings are closed Monday.
- Douglasville garbage pick up: For residents in the city of Douglasville's city limits, both Monday and Tuesday routes will be picked up Tuesday, Jan. 18. City crews ask that you have your receptacle at the curb by 7 a.m.
- This is a holiday for federal employees and most U.S. Postal Service post offices are closed Monday.
- All banks will be closed Monday.
