
Dogs will have a chance to play in the large and small dog parks, and their owners can shop for pet gifts at the Chattapoochee Pet Fest Sunday, Oct. 7, at Chattapoochee Dog Park in Rogers Bridge Park in Duluth. The festival opens at 10 a.m. and continues until 5 p.m.
“Shiner,” current mayor of the Chattapoochee Dog Park, will welcome people and pet visitors to the park. Activities include a Blessing of Pets, a pet costume contest, and a silent auction. Vendors in more than 40 booths will offer pet accessories and toys, pet food samples and coupons, and people food. Pet trainers and animal rescue groups will also be represented.
Details will be announced for the 2013 dog mayoral election.

A Kids Corner will feature a train from the Southeastern Railway Museum for children to explore and other fun stuff.
The festival is presented by the Duluth Historical Society. Festival sponsors are the Duluth Parks and Recreation Department, Duluth Animal Hospital, and Gwinnett Medical Center.
