GCPS Hosting College Fair for Students With Disabilities

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) invites students with special needs and their parents or guardians to explore the opportunities that await them as they transition from their K-12 academic careers.

Students and parents can find out more about these opportunities during the “GCPS College Fair for Students with Disabilities” on Saturday, Oct. 13, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school system’s Instructional Support Center, 437 Old Peachtree Road NW in Suwanee, according to a press release issued by GCPS.

During the event, families can meet with college representatives by visiting college booths from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. College admissions and disability representatives from four-year universities, two-year colleges, and technical colleges will be on hand to provide students and their families with information about how they can meet students’ special needs.

In addition, several information sessions will be offered from 12:20 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn about special accommodations the schools offer, what students and parents should be doing to be college ready, choosing a career path, navigating GACollege411.org, and opportunities for financial aid.

GCPS co-sponsors the event along with the Area II Gwinnett County Council of PTAs (the Parent and Teacher Association unit with membership from schools in the Collins Hill, Duluth, Lanier, Mountain View, Norcross, North Gwinnett, and Peachtree Ridge Clusters).
