Gwinnett Chamber Honors Healthcare Excellence

The Gwinnett Chamber’s Healthcare Excellence Awards honored more than 40 professionals and organizations for their contribution to the continued well-being of Gwinnett and metro Atlanta citizens.

Of those nominated, nine winners were announced, receiving long-deserved recognition for outstanding effort and commitment to the healthcare industry, according to a press release issued by the chamber.

Through these awards, the Gwinnett Chamber saluted excellence, encouraged innovation, and offered examples of best practices for others to emulate. The program was designed to raise awareness in the community, enhance the quality of healthcare and, of course, recognize deserving individuals and organizations within the healthcare community.

Honorees at the Dec. 4 ceremony at the Atlanta Marriott Gwinnett Place included:

• Stephen A. Schulte, LP, CP, FAAOP and Mariamne Schulte  with ProCare Prosthetics & Orthotics receiving the Advancements in Health Award;
• Maxwell High School of Technology for Corporate Achievement in Healthcare;
• Gwinnett Community Clinic for Healthcare Agency of the Year;
• Kim Ryan, MS, MBA, FACHE, CEO of Eastside Medical Center, for Healthcare Executive of the Year;
• Pam Kramer with Eastside Medical Center for Healthcare Professional of the Year;
• Anne Hysong, MSN, APRN, CCNS, Gwinnett Medical Center, for Nurse Practitioner of the Year;
• Barbara Howard, Gwinnett Medical Center Foundation, for Philanthropist of the Year;
• Hal Herd, MD, with Gwinnett Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine for Physician of the Year;
• The Gwinnett Tech Foundation’s Legacy of Lives Campaign Cabinet Leadership Team for Volunteer of the Year.

“These individuals are exemplary in their fields and to honor them at this celebratory event is truly our privilege as a community,” added Maran. “This is our night to say thank you, to show gratitude and demonstrate the respect we have for our healthcare heroes and all they do to contribute to Gwinnett’s overall success. The Gwinnett Chamber Healthcare Excellence Awards is one example of several quality recognition and awards programs it produces throughout the year to honor the individuals and initiatives making an impact in the community.

The Chamber’s next awards program, the Gwinnett Chamber Annual Dinner, is scheduled for Feb. 1, 2013. This once-a-year event attracting over 1,000 leaders from the metro Atlanta community for a gala and celebration of leadership and collaboration at the Gwinnett Center.
