Fatally Shot Duluth Woman Identified, Shot By 911 Caller: Police

The Duluth woman who was shot and killed Tuesday morning has been identified as police continue to question the man who called 911.

DULUTH, GA — A Duluth woman who was shot and killed Tuesday morning, has been identified as police continue to question the man who called 911.

Jessica Criff, 27, is being described by police as a homicide victim with Cortez Lofton, 25, of Duluth, being identified as the shooter. Notification has been made to Jessica’s next-of-kin.

Immediately following the shooting, Cortez called 911 to report the incident, police said. And he remained at the scene awaiting the arrival of police and fire personnel. After Criff was transported to the hospital, Cortez was transported to Gwinnett County Police Headquarters to meet with investigators.

Police said Cortez has been cooperative with the investigation. Police have not charged him with any crimes from Tuesday's shooting. According to police, the lead detective assigned to this case is still working to gather more information about the events that led up to the shooting as well as the results from the autopsy.
